Roadside Tolling 2026

A deep dive into next-generation roadside architecture, sensors, and operational models for modern tolling.

About the Event

On July 14, Toll Insight brought together leading agencies, consultants, integrators, and technology providers for a focused online summit exploring the rapidly evolving world of roadside toll systems and Open Road Tolling (ORT). As agencies modernize gantries, pursue all-electronic tolling, and migrate away from legacy toll plazas, the roadside is becoming a critical platform for accuracy, efficiency, customer experience, and revenue integrity.

This summit examined the latest developments in sensor technology, multi-vendor roadside architectures, vehicle detection and classification advancements, and the integration of AI and edge computing at the roadside. Speakers addressed practical challenges—from calibration and environmental impacts to data governance, leaner systems, and long-term maintenance strategies.

Participants gained a clear understanding of emerging best practices, procurement trends, and the capabilities agencies should expect from next-generation ORT systems. Designed for technical leaders, program managers, and executives, this event layed out what roadside modernization looks like in the next 3–5 years—and how to prepare for it today.
